Wilma Sepp\u00e4l\u00e4<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Wilma Sepp\u00e4l\u00e4<\/strong> is a Tampere-born dance artist living in Stockholm. In 2021 she graduated from the Dance Performance programme in Stockholm University of the Arts. Wilma is working widely within dance, performance, choreography and teaching both in Sweden and Finland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After her studies she has performed in Wilhelmina Ojanen\u2019s<\/strong> works becoming-with<\/em> and Matters of Care (or every thing we do)<\/em>, Sanna S\u00f6derholms<\/strong> and Uncover Choreography\u2019s work Qu\u00f6\u00f6riem<\/em>, Amanda Pi\u00f1as<\/strong> work Tira Kuna<\/em> and Tampere-based T\u00e4sm\u00e4teatteris immersive performance Narttu Live (ty\u00f6nimi)<\/em>. Between 2018 and 2022 she worked in collaboration with juggler Onni Toivonen<\/strong> and musician-sound designer Konsta Leinonen<\/strong> in Amalgam<\/em> which is a performance about the collision of dance, juggling and sound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her artistic work Wilma works with movement and somatics around themes like emotions, pleasure and drama. She loves to dive into details both as a performer and as a choreographer and find big worlds in small things. Currently Wilma is interested in personal and collective unconscious, being around things she doesn\u2019t understand and the co-existence of silence and high frequency in movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project ALDA<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

ALDA<\/em> is a poignant installation that erodes the boundaries between dance and visual arts. In ALDA, choreographer Katr\u00edn Gunnarsd\u00f3ttir<\/strong> draws upon the history of women’s collective physical labour, in particular its relation to repetitive motions and song, to generate an event of intimate female assembly, convergence and coalescence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The driving force behind choreographer Katr\u00edn Gunnarsd\u00f3ttir’s current work has been the creation of movement language and imagery from softness, sensitivity, ever-changing movement and the integration of bodies with their environment. This piece is the culmination of many years of collaboration between the choreographer and designer Eva Sign\u00fd Berger where art forms merge to create a rhythmic wave of experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When translated as WAVE<\/em>, ALDA not only reflects on the form of movement but also refers to time and history, the old and the emerging new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dancers Wilhelmina Ojanen<\/strong> and Wilma Sepp\u00e4l\u00e4<\/strong> from Tampere, who are employed by the Pirkanmaa Dance Centre, will perform as part of the installation for a total of two weeks within the opening hours of the exhibition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
