My Dreams Are Not Afraid of the Dark<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A dancer, musician and poet work together to create a multi-art experience. They release words into the wind, take steps with their eyes closed, dance to the brown hares, wonder at the evening clouds. They count the grains of sand on the beach, the stars in the sky and wistful thoughts in the mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Performed in Finnish, the work explores the kinds of resonance surfaces that words can create in dance, soundscapes and music. Do they struggle against each other, argue, comment, sparkle, or do they occasionally find harmony?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The performance lingers in the moment, remembers the past and feels the future. It steps from the moss to the concrete and returns to the reedy shore. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My Dreams Are Not Afraid of the Dark<\/em> is part of the Moving Poems<\/em> concept and series of works. The Moving Poems is an ongoing concept created by dance artist Hanna Korhonen<\/strong> in 2018. In this concept, contemporary dance and soundscapes are created for contemporary poems and prose texts. Korhonen continues to work on the concept every year whenever possible, always creating new moving poems with new communities and artists. Korhonen is working with Pirkanmaa Dance Centre regional centre salary in the autumn 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hanna Korhonen is a dancer-choreographer and a wide-ranging art professional who graduated from the University of the Arts (Helsinki) with a master’s degree in dance. Korhonen has worked as a professional dance artist for 24 years and performed in more than 70 professional productions, in addition to freelance productions, e.g. in Tsuumi Dance Theatre\u2019s productions. From 2013 to 2016, Korhonen worked at The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) in Ostrobothnia as a Regional Artist for audience outreach. 2021-2022 Korhonen worked as the artistic and production director of Tsuumi Dance Theatre. Korhonen has also applied her artistic expertise to various environments and worked in cultural well-being projects, e.g. with drug and mental health rehabilitators and investigative youth work. NIINA HANNULA musician, singer, composer, lyricist, arranger, conductor, pedagogue<\/em>
Hannula works extensively in the field of music as a composer, musician, singer, lyricist, arranger and pedagogue. She has composed many theater and dance pieces, breaking the boundaries of musical styles. Hannula’s solo album S\u00e4\u00e4p\u00e4iv\u00e4kirja was released on June 1, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pekka Kyt\u00f6m\u00e4ki is a Finnish poet and translator living in Tampere. He has authored five collections of poetry. His first collection Ei talvikunnossapitoa (\u2018No winter maintenance\u2019, Sanasato 2015) won the Tampere City Literary Award. Kyt\u00f6m\u00e4ki\u2019s latest work is titled Historian pienmiehi\u00e4 (\u2018Small men of history\u2019, Aviador 2023). He enjoys lying on the couch, browsing at the library, picking berries in the forest and skating miniramps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
