Aaltonen, Neves: Voyeur<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I look at you when you look at me looking at you looking at me. Where does your gaze end and mine begin? The gaze does not belong to either, it is a relationship in which you participate. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dance piece Voyeur is about the gaze and its effect on the performer and the audience. What is communication without words? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the performance, the audience encounters a group of performers on a stage divided by a large window. The performers are on one side of the window and the audience is on the other. The window makes tangible the basic elements of a dance performance, people gathered in the same space to look at each other. Looking and meeting the gaze can be safely explored in the space created by the Voyeur. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The work is non-verbal and communicates with the audience through bodily action, light and sound. In the subtle space of the performance, even small gestures and actions begin to speak and feel precious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
