In her solo performance Again and Again and How It Ends <\/strong>Maria Bakalo asks: what is there to talk about on the threshold of a nuclear catastrophe, if not love? childhood? memories?\u00a0
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Digging into historical events and personal memories of the 1990s leads the performer to a painfully familiar experience: Balancing between the global threat of humanity\u2019s destruction and the urgent routine of everyday life, Maria Bakalo places simple acts alongside major questions of security policy: caring for loved ones, doing puzzles, going to work, and the possibility of being together in a theatre.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Referring to the history of Ukraine\u2019s nuclear disarmament, Maria reflects on trust and betrayal, and on the value of a great act in the name of a higher idea \u2014 peace? loyalty to the state \/ international alliances? defense of shared values? Despite the urgent need for armed defense of the country, the artist considers whether giving up nuclear weapons could potentially be a step toward the future. Again and Again and How It Ends <\/strong>premiered in Lviv, Ukraine, in April 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the artist<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Maria Bakalo is a choreographer and researcher of contemporary dance and inclusive practices. She develops dance as an accessible practice for people with diverse bodies and experiences, directing performances with people with disabilities and collaborating with arts and educational institutions in Europe and the USA. Her work occupies both somatics and politics, combining research, creativity, and cultural heritage, aiming to nourish new ways of engaging with the body and society. Maria is a certified DanceAbility teacher and holds an MFA degree in Experimental Choreography, gained at the University of California.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Again and Again and How It Ends<\/strong> with Maria are performing her two children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The studio Liikelaituri is located at Yliopistonkatu 58 D, 1 krs, 33100 Tampere<\/a>. Accessible entrance from Pinninkatu at the address Pinninkatu 55 A. At the gate entrance, the door is on the right at 58 D, from where access to the 1st floor is via elevator. Please note that Liikelaituri does not have a lobby or refreshments service. Accessible access to the space can be arranged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
