Pylypennia

Pylypennia<\/strong> is a solo performance of contemporary dance about motherhood in times of war. Looking back to the twentieth century, the performance addresses the question of how the joy of motherhood – the creation and growth of new life – is possible in times of war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a historical retrospective and reference to personal and collective maternal experience, the performance aims to develop a dance vocabulary that combines contemporary dance style, somatic approach, and elements of Ukrainian folk dance at various stages of its development. A play of light and shadow, pastel and rich colours, and images that come into view through the interplay of numerous details. This imagery and fragility will contrast with the reflective part of the production, which aims to explore the complexities of motherhood \u2013 and fatherhood \u2013 to highlight its \u2018burden\u2019, and to provide a space for difficult issues, such as child abuse in Ukraine.

About the artist<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Svitlana Oleksiuk is an artist interested in engaging historical knowledge in dance, working on the intersection between dance, text, video art, and architecture. Oleksiuk has studied culture and arts in Ukraine and in Germany and has performed multidisciplinarily around Europe as a dancer and as a choreographer.\u00a0

The studio Liikelaituri is located at Yliopistonkatu 58 D, 1 krs, 33100 Tampere<\/a>. Accessible entrance from Pinninkatu at the address Pinninkatu 55 A. At the gate entrance, the door is on the right at 58 D, from where access to the 1st floor is via elevator. Please note that Liikelaituri does not have a lobby or refreshments service. Accessible access to the space can be arranged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
