PIRKANMAA DANCE CENTRE IS LOOKING FOR DANCE ARTISTS TO WORK FOR A REGIONAL CENTRE SALARY IN 2023

– Liikelaituri residencies for summer 2023 are also open for applications.

The Pirkanmaa Dance Centre in the Tampere region is looking for dance professionals: choreographers, dancers or dancemakers for 1 to 3 months.

PIRKANMAA DANCE CENTRE

The Pirkanmaa Dance Centre (PDC) is a regional expert in the free field of dance; an artistic and working community. It is one of the six regional dance centres in Finland. The values of the PDC are diversity and pluralism, cooperation and community-orientation, courage, openness, open-mindedness, and responsibility in dance. The main tasks of the PDC are to promote the regional and social availability and accessibility of dance and to improve the employment and working conditions of dance artists. The PDC maintains the rehearsal and performance space Liikelaituri in Tampere.

The PDC offers the applicants a fixed-term employment contract of 1 to 3 months, with tailored support for artistic work. In 2023, the regional centre salaries will be part of the following forms of PDC support; RADAR, ORIGINAL, and PARTIAL PRODUCTION GRANT. When applying for a regional salary, the applicant chooses the forms of support that would best support their work.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS FROM THE APPLICANT

The tasks will be based on the applicant’s own work plan, submitted in advance. In addition to artistic thinking, the position requires initiative, the ability to work independently, self-management skills, and a willingness to engage in open dialogue with the employer. The work consists of producing the dance artist’s own work, scheduling, finding and contacting the necessary collaborators, and presenting the different stages of the work on different platforms.

This is a personal employment contract with a monthly salary. It will make the work of the dance artist visible as part of the PDC’s activities and annual programme and its documentation.

Salary: € 2,500 to 3,600 depending on the applicant’s work experience. The PDC does not reimburse travel or accommodation expenses.

Place of work: Pirkanmaa; the exact place of work will be agreed with the artist.

APPLY

The application period is from 16 May to 12 June 2022.

Applications must be submitted by 12 June 2022 at 11.59 pm. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. Make sure that you have the attachments in a format (.pdf) that you can attach to the application form in good time.

Read the application guidelines and fill in the application form and its attachments.

Based on the work plan, the PDC expert group will invite some of the applicants for an interview. Based on the interviews, the expert group will propose the artists to be hired and the forms of support to be granted to the PDC Board.

For those who do not receive an invitation to an interview, a group sparring session will be organised. The group will reflect on the clarification of one’s own work and support the artists’ work further.
