KAHR. KARH.: Sewing Motion

To think about it, this life is a bit like this:
You have to constantly stay a little bit above yourself to be able to cope with things. To relate to them. There is always a problem waiting for your reaction. Collection. You want to stitch things together to keep them aligned. Is life something you need to survive?
Sewing Motion is a performative work that combines a sewing performance, dance acts located in several different spaces, and video. This interdisciplinary work by two performers asks where there is space, and how do different art forms appear as spatial phenomena – alone, and in relation to each other?
In Sewing Motion, two art forms meet to create a physical, visual and meditative weave, that lives only in the current moment. Main themes of this weave are the efforts we take to keep everything together, reaching out to one another and building together.
KAHR. KARH., the team behind Sewing Motion, consists of Tampere-based dance artist Hanna Kahrola and Kuopio-based visual and textile artist Maijariitta Karhulahti. Throughout their over decade-long collaboration, KAHR. KARH. has specialized in examining themes of space.
