Sykli Fest: CYCLE

CYCLE is a physical monodrama which explores explores the inner and outer worlds of human beings. It raises questions of honesty and, at the same time, the acceptance of life’s various facets — gains and losses, joys and sorrows, life and death — and the cyclical nature of change. It is about embracing the complex and unfathomable depth of life and the challenges it presents.
“Cyclicality is a natural process of change and repetition, of endings and beginnings. And therein lies the law of existence—constant, yet predictable change. Humans are witnesses to this cyclicality—the whirlwind of changes in the inner world of thoughts, feelings, and states of mind, as well as in the turbulent events of the external world. How should we respond? What is our light, and what is our shadow?”
In CYCLE, light is an active participant with music that tells a story and plays with time. Its movement works with volume, from a single point to boundless space. CYCLE does not have a final form, but it is born anew every time it is performed. CYCLE was created in collaboration and is a result of joint research onthe themes of cycle and repetition, the physical laws of nature and light and the inner world of the human being. This research involved discussions, essay writing, scriptwriting, improvisational sketches and original music created in collaboration with dance.

About the artists
Glib Zelgin and Iryna Tychyna are independent artists who have been collaborating since 2024. Since they began working together, Glib and Iryna have been developing their own methodology called “SŌURCE” exploring the starting point of movement and ways of creation. In 2025, work began on CYCLE and it was premiered in Kyiv in December of the same year.

Iryna Tychyna
Performer, actress, dancer, movement researcher and coach. Her experience includes participation in performances, poetry readings, filming of video poetry, and directing and participation in dance films.

The studio Liikelaituri is located at Yliopistonkatu 58 D, 1 krs, 33100 Tampere. Accessible entrance from Pinninkatu at the address Pinninkatu 55 A. At the gate entrance, the door is on the right at 58 D, from where access to the 1st floor is via elevator. Please note that Liikelaituri does not have a lobby or refreshments service. Accessible access to the space can be arranged.
