Pylypennia

Pylypennia is a solo performance of contemporary dance about motherhood in times of war. Looking back to the twentieth century, the performance addresses the question of how the joy of motherhood – the creation and growth of new life – is possible in times of war.
With a historical retrospective and reference to personal and collective maternal experience, the performance aims to develop a dance vocabulary that combines contemporary dance style, somatic approach, and elements of Ukrainian folk dance at various stages of its development. A play of light and shadow, pastel and rich colours, and images that come into view through the interplay of numerous details. This imagery and fragility will contrast with the reflective part of the production, which aims to explore the complexities of motherhood – and fatherhood – to highlight its ‘burden’, and to provide a space for difficult issues, such as child abuse in Ukraine.
Duration of the perfomance is 35 minutes.

About the artist
Svitlana Oleksiuk is an artist interested in engaging historical knowledge in dance, working on the intersection between dance, text, video art, and architecture. Oleksiuk has studied culture and arts in Ukraine and in Germany and has performed multidisciplinarily around Europe as a dancer and as a choreographer.
Accessibility
The studio Liikelaituri is located at Yliopistonkatu 58 D, 1 krs, 33100 Tampere. Accessible entrance from Pinninkatu at the address Pinninkatu 55 A. At the gate entrance, the door is on the right at 58 D, from where access to the 1st floor is via elevator. Please note that Liikelaituri does not have a lobby or refreshments service. Accessible access to the space can be arranged.

«Пилипеня»— це сольна вистава сучасного танцю, присвячена темі материнства в часи війни. Звертаючись до досвіду ХХ століття, вистава порушує питання про те, як радість материнства — творення та плекання нового життя — можлива в умовах війни.
Використовуючи історичну ретроспективу та спираючись на особистий і колективний досвід материнства, вистава прагне сформувати танцювальну мову, що поєднує стилістику сучасного танцю, соматичний підхід та елементи українського народного танцю різних етапів його розвитку. Це гра світла й тіні, пастельних і насичених кольорів, а також образів, що постають завдяки взаємодії численних деталей. Така образність і крихкість контрастуватимуть із рефлексивною частиною постановки, мета якої — дослідити складність материнства (а також батьківства), висвітлити його «тягар» і створити простір для обговорення болючих тем, зокрема проблеми насильства над дітьми в Україні.

Про мисткиню
Світлана Олексюк — мисткиня, зацікавлена в інтеграції історичного знання в танець; вона працює на перетині танцю, тексту, відеоарту й архітектури. Олексюк вивчала культуру та мистецтво в Україні й Німеччині та реалізовувала мультидисциплінарні проєкти по всій Європі як танцівниця й хореографка.
